Face2Face Novgorod News
Update
on Veliky Novgorod 2008
A small group of F2F members are going to Novgorod from the
27th October to the 4th November on a 'Fact finding Tour'
to visit the three hospitals that we have supported over the
past years since 1999, a centre for the blind, and the Rodnichok
Centre for the Disabled, in order to see how our Russian friends
are getting on, what their present specific needs are, and
how we can best be of help to them.
As well as these
places, we will be visiting a centre that cares for children suffering from TB
and other serious diseases such as AIDS. These children are often orphaned and
the only home they have is this centre and the carers are their 'family'.Zena,
who is the Director of the centre, says that F2F is part of this family and she
always welcomes us to spend time with the children and carers, sometimes playing
games, telling stories, and even having parties together. We often have the opportunity
to pray for the children and staff. The group will also be considering
other possible concert venues for our proposed trip in the Spring of 2009 and
also hope to renew relationships with friends and groups we have met in our past
trips such as the Municipal Town Wind Band, the English Club, a group of elderly
people who we've danced with on many occasions, plus the unexpected visits that
our friends spring on us! We will be staying with Russian families
whom we have made friends with in our past visits.
We would like to thank everyone who has
given so generously - it has made a huge difference to many
lives.
